Where It Is Used

  • Powders, granules and small lumps — grain, flour, feed, cement, chemical powders and plastic pellets.
  • Pasty, sticky and sludge materials in shaftless screws.
  • Chemical and powder dosing, conveying and discharge; food, grain and feed handling; building material and mining; environmental and sludge dewatering duties.
  • Duties that need enclosed, dust-contained conveying.

Key Features

  • An enclosed housing helps contain material and dust. Corrosive materials and hazardous areas require a separate assessment of materials, sealing and protection measures.
  • Compact and available horizontally, inclined or vertically: small footprint, with multiple infeed and discharge points.
  • Handles dry to semi-fluid and sticky materials; shaftless designs suit viscous sludge and blockage-prone duties.
  • Relatively low cost and easy to maintain; can double as dosing or feeding where a dedicated screw feeder is used.

Selection Notes

  • Inclined conveying can reduce capacity and increase power demand; steep or vertical duties require a suitable screw and housing design.
  • Large lumps, fragile, strongly abrasive or tangling materials jam, wear or break — confirm against a material table.
  • Sticky or bridging materials need shaftless or special flight designs; standard shafts tangle and block.
  • Hanger bearings, flights, ends and seals are hygiene dead spots; food and pharmaceutical duties need cleanable designs, confirmed per project.
  • Not a flexible-router conveyor: long runs usually favour belts, so it is not used for arbitrary paths.
